The first day in Changzhou, China is over and here is a recap of today's action.

WESG 2016 World Finals which offers $1,500,000 in prize money kicked off at 04:30 and twenty-seven matches were played. The group stage matches were best-of-twos and squads played two to three matches in the first day. The leaders of the groups will go straight to the quarter-finals while the second and third-placed teams from different groups will face each other in order to qualify for the quarters.

Group A, which features the heavy-hitters, kicked off with Envy' 2-0 win over subtLe. The Frenchmen later faced Epsilon, who secured a victory against TeamOne in their first game. The Swedish lineup won Cobblestone in overtime by coming back, while Envy secured Cache 16-4.

The first day in China is over 

Virtus.pro had a hard day as they tied their first game 1-1 with .Russia and almost lost a map against subtLe. In the end, the Poles overcame subtLe and finished the day with a win and a draw. .Russia's 2-0 win against TeamOne gave them the same record as three different teams in the group.

iGame.com were the clear victors of Group B as they beat both VG.CyberZen and Colombia 2-0. Although they lost against the Finns, VG.CyberZen defeated K23 while Colombia won against ENZO.

rEAK had two games, one against K23 and the other one versus ENZO, and the Chileans got draws in both of these matches.

Group C only featured five teams because GODSENT skipped the event. The two favorites in the group, Space Soldiers and Kinguin, won their opening matches against Signature and FIVE, respectively. The Polish and Turkish teams then faced each other but a victor couldn't be found as they drew the match 1-1.

Space Soldiers later beat Bravado to get their second win while Signature eased past FIVE. Last but not least, Signature drew against Bravado after losing the first map 16-14 and recovering with a 16-3 win on the second map.

Group D saw TYLOO get draws against Selfless and DarkPassage, and a win against QuetzaL. Selfless later defeated JYP and Ukraine to get the leadership of the group but DarkPassage tied the record of Americans by beating QuetzaL and Ukraine.
